5 Reasons On Why To Use A KiteHero Line Mount
There is something great about the KiteHero Line Mount (currently designed for use with GoPro cameras) It captures moments that would other wise go unmissed, whether you are a land, snow or water kiter the line mount will help capture that all important “kodak moment”
The KiteHero line mount is available in the Uk for £39.99. This small piece of black plastic may not look much, or look to exciting when you receive it in the post however with this magic gadget on your lines, you will get some of the best kite footage possible.
The mount sits on your centre lines and works on both 4 and 5 line kites, depending on the calibration of the kite and lines the mount may sit quite close or far away from the rider. You can rig the mount on top or under the lines for slightly different angles, we found having the camera under the lines generally produces a smoother image.
No matter how long you have been kiting or who you kite with, there is always an element of doubt about someone landing a certain trick or how high a jump really was… Not anymore. Look at the KiteHero as a friend abuse spam filter. You have just retired from the water after a hard day busting out your latest moves but your out to deep or to far upwind for anyone to notice. Quite often no-one believes what really went down.
Say goodbye to, if its not on camera – it didn’t happen.
Its not all glamour and highlights in the world of kiting you know, and sometimes its not the boosting and monster waves you want to share. Quite often it’s the fails and bails! Whats worse than smashing your face into the wet stuff, being dragged backwards under water and then looping the kite if its not even on camera?
Due to the GoPro’s do anything and go anywhere approach of use you can now collect photos and videos of things you would normally miss. No one enjoys standing around shooting from the beach in the cold when they could be out riding, and then theres the fact that the best stuff either happens a. a long way from shore. b. when the camera is turned the other way.
The line mount is also a fantastic location shooting and holiday snap tool. Depending on how your kite is rigged you may get away having the mount sit much further up the lines. This gives the massively wide surrounding style shot which you can see on the left. This method of shooting is not only great for capturing the essence of the location but also if you want to shoot in “packs”. As the field of view is so wide in photo mode on the GoPro you can happily snap photos of riders up and downwind of yourself.
Using the GoPro as close as possible down the line usually gives an almost full frame rider in the photos. Got a new board you want to show off or want to get as close to the action as possible? The KiteHero which is currently only available to GoPro users (Contour coming soon…) allows a frame to be captured every second so you rarely miss that big carve or jump.
