Introducing 0910 Snowskates

We had a quick chat with Mike Steinhauser and asked him “What is Snowskating?” Here is his answer!

This is a question most snowskaters have probably been asked many times a on the slope, in the park or even around a cup of coffee. An answer could simply be that a snowskate is “the perfect combination of a snowboard and a skateboard”. However I sometimes ask myself the same fundamental question, “what is snowskating?” The answer I’m searching for is not the same answer that I quickly give to the curious outsiders; the answer I am searching for has a deeper meaning. And I think I’ve finally come close to what snowskating is, to me at least.

To me snowskating is not just another cool activity, it’s not just an alternate sport. There is really something special about about it.. My snowskate made me go to beautiful places and meet pasionate people. I am well aware that for some people snowskating is only a fad that died a couple of years after major snowboard brands introduced it to the market (about 10 years ago). But snowskating made me feel more alive and connected with nature than Snowboarding ever it. There is something really special about riding binding free. You feel in harmony with your surroundings and less invasive than on a snowboard. You learn how to take your time (progression takes time on a snowskate) and to enjoy every feature your local spot has to offer. Technique becomes key and true transcendence could be found when everything folds into place, the right speed, the perfect timing and proper landing.

Remember, simple is better!

You can ride anywhere with a snowskate (with a leash on). Go down a slope and carve hard, hit the park and shred the sliders and kickers or just go hiking with your friends and find your way up, your snowskate on your back, end enjoy your way down on an immaculate terrain.

Try it, you will feel free.
